This framework organises how a brand’s content estate should be structured to serve AI retrieval. It answers: what content do we need, in what shape, and how do the pieces relate?

The content pyramid

Layer 1 — Answer cores. For every priority intent: a page whose first paragraph directly answers the question with quotable specifics. This is the retrieval surface — what engines quote. Fewer, better answer cores beat many partial pages.

Layer 2 — Evidence layers. Methodology, research, technical documentation and reference content that support the answer cores. This is the verification surface — what engines use to corroborate claims and what earns deep links.

Layer 3 — Entity infrastructure. About, team, company and product pages that keep the entity picture stable and complete. This is the attribution surface — what engines cite when they name you.

Layer 4 — Attraction content. Fresh, shareable material that earns coverage and links. This is the amplification surface — what PR and outreach point to.

Rules for each layer

  • Answer cores: one intent per page, answer first, facts quotable, token-dense, schema declared.
  • Evidence layers: methodology-grade transparency, dates, named sources, no unverifiable claims.
  • Entity infrastructure: consistency above all — every page describing the same facts the same way.
  • Attraction content: genuinely useful or newsworthy; never content written only to be crawled.

The relationship rule

Every answer core links to its supporting evidence layers; every evidence page links back to the answer cores it supports. The internal link graph mirrors the argument structure — which is exactly what retrieval systems reward.

Sequencing

Build bottom-up or top-down depending on your starting state: brands with strong entity infrastructure should build answer cores first (fast visibility); brands with weak infrastructure must fix that first, or the cores will not be attributed correctly. The content optimisation methodology executes the framework at page level, and the content service runs it at estate level.
